Vanilla Custard

Traditionally custard is prepared with milk/cream, egg and sugar. This is one of the simple dessert which can be served as it is ore it can be used to prepare fruit custard, jelly custard, trifle pudding custard and many more desserts. Simplest way of preparing custard is using custard powder available in the market. My kids love to eat custard as it is. This is one more option for my kids snacks box.
Ingredients:

Vanilla Custard powder - 2 to 2.5 tbsp
Milk                   - 500 ml
Sugar                  - 6 to 8 tbsp
Vanilla essence        - 1/2 tsp

Method:

Step 1 : Mix custard powder in 1/4 cup of Milk from 500 ml of Milk. Keep remaining milk for boiling.

Step 2 : Once the milk starts boiling, add sugar and mix well till sugar dissolves completely. Add custard powder-milk mix and vanilla essence to the milk slowly and stir continuously in a low flame to avoid forming lumps.
Keep stirring to avoid lumps or any burning at the bottom of the vessel.

Step 3 : Once it becomes thick, switch off the stove and allow it to cool. Transfer into the serving bowl and keep it in the refrigerator.
Custard can be served along with fruits or it can be used to prepare in many desserts like fruit custard, jelly custard, trifle fruit pudding, apple pudding and many more.

Note :
1. Custard should be prepared in low flame. Chances of burning at the bottom of the vessel is high.
2. 1/2 tbsp of custard can be vary to adjust the consistency of the custard.
3. Stir or mix custard to make a smooth paste while using for desserts.
4. For fruit custard, mix different varieties of fruits in custard and refrigerate for 1 or 2 hours.
