Pomfret Fish Fry

Pomfret Fish fry is tawa pomfret fry where pomfret is sliced like bread pieces and marinated with simple spicy and tangy masala. Earlier I had shared a pomfret tawa fry where whole pomfret is marinated with spices and fried on tawa. Slicing pomfret fish like bread slices will help you in serving to your guest easily but size of the fish should be atleast 300 gms to 500 gms.

I took below pics when i was preparing fish fry for guest. I will update each step pics next time when i prepare same recipe.

Ingredients:
White Pomfret Fish    - 500 grams ( pomfret fish)
Oil for frying        - 1/4 cup
Rawa                  - 2 to 3 tbsp

For Masala:
Guntur chillies       - 4
Byadagi chillies      - 4
Ginger & Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Fried gram            - 1 tbsp
Turmeric              - 1 tsp
Curry leaves          - 2 sprig
Tamrind paste         - 2 tbsp
Salt                  - to taste

Method:

Step 1 : Wash and clean pomfret fish and slice the fish like bread slices as shown in pic and drain water completely.

Step 2 : Grind all the ingredients mentioned under masala to a smooth paste in a mixer grinder adding little water.

Step 3 : Marinate fish with the grinded masala for 30 to 6o mins.

Step 4 : Heat oil in a non stick tawa or pan. Spread rawa on a tissue paper. When the oil is hot enough, then flip fish on rawa on both side and place the fish pieces carefully on tawa. Fry for 1 min to 1.5 min, on one side and after 1 min, carefully flip the fish and fry on the other side for another 1.5 - 2 minutes. Generally, fish takes less time to cook, Hence be careful while frying or cooking fish. Remove from oil and drain oil on a paper towel.
Serve hot Pomfret fish fry with pudina/mint chutney, onion slices and lemon slice.
