Chocolate Cake / Cup Cake


Super moist chocolate cake recipe with step by step pics. Same batter can be used for baking chocolate cup cakes. This recipe is also known as Hershey's Chocolate Cake. It can be frosted with butter cream frosting or chocolate ganache. 

Ingredients :

All-purpose flour/Maida   - 1 3⁄4 cups
Cocoa                     - 3⁄4 cup
Baking powder             - 1 1⁄2 tsp
Baking soda               - 1 1⁄2 tsp
Salt                      - 1 tsp
Sugar                     - 2 cups
Egg                       - 2
Milk                      - 1 cup
Vegetable oil             - 1⁄2 cup
Vanilla extract           - 2 tsp
Boiling water             - 1 cup

Method:

Step 1 : Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C. Butter a cake pan and dust with flour and set aside. 

Step 2 : Sieve dry ingredients and transfer into a large bowl. 

Step 3 : Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla into the dry ingredients bowl. 

Step 4 : Beat on medium speed till it wet ingredients mix well with dry ingredients.

Step 5 : Keep a cup of water for boiling. Once water starts boiling then pour into the cake batter and mix well. After adding water, cake batter will be thin in consistency. This batter cake is sufficient to bake two 9” round cakes or around 30 cup cakes.

Step 6 : Pour cake batter into 2 greased and floured 9" round pans. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 7 : Allow to cool completely to room temperature, then remove to wire racks and cool completely. Frost with butter cream frosting or chocolate ganache or even with chocolate whipped cream.
