White Pomfret Fish - 500 grams (2 pomfret fish)
Oil for tawa fry - 1/4 cup
For Masala:
Guntur chillies - 3 (for spice)
Byadagi chillies - 3 (for colour)
Black pepper corn - 1 tbsp
Garlic cloves - 2
Fried gram - 1 tbsp
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 2 sprig
Lemon - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
For Garnish
Juice of a lemon
Onion Slices
Minty chutney (optional)
Method:
Step 1 : Wash and clean pomfret fish and make gashes on both the sides of the fish as shown in the pic. Let drain completely.
Step 2 : Grind all the ingredients mentioned under masala to a smooth paste in a mixie adding little water.
Step 3 : Apply the masala paste on fish and make sure apply masala inside the gashes. Marinate fish for 30mins.
Step 4 : Heat oil in a non stick tawa or pan. When the oil is really hot, then place the pomfret carefully. Fry for 1 min to 1.5 min, on one side. After 1 min, carefully flip the fish and fry on the other side for another 1.5 - 2 minutes. Fish takes less time to cook. So be carefully while cooking fish. Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel.
Step 5 : Serve hot with lemon piece, onion slices and mint chutney.
