Fruit Trifle Pudding

Fruit Trifle is a simple layered dessert with sponge cake, custard, fruits and jelly. This dessert is perfect for party and can be prepared a day before the party and even kids can prepare this dessert with little guidance of elders. This dessert is layered with sponge cake, thick custard, fruits, jelly and topped with whipped cream and cherry. Since I didn’t have whipped cream, hence skipped in my recipe.
Custard
Jelly

Ingredients:

Fruit Cocktail         - 1 Can
Vanilla Cake Slices    - 200 gms
Vanilla Custard Powder - 4 tbsp
Sugar                  - 6 to 8 tbsp
Milk                   - 750 ml
Jelly Crystals         - 1 Pack (Any brand and any flavor)
Water                  - 550ml
Sugar                  - 2 tbsp

Method:

Step 1 : Sugar Syrup
Preparation of sugar syrup by boiling 1/4 cup of water with 2 tbsp of sugar. Here I have used syrup came along with fruit cocktail.

Step 2 : Custard layer
Mix 4 tbsp of custard powder with 4 tbsp of warm milk and make a smooth paste without lumps. Boil remaining milk. Once the milk starts boiling, add custard paste to the milk slowly and stirring continuously in a low flame. Once it becomes thick, switch off the stove and allow it to cool. Once custard comes to room temperature, then keep it in the refrigerator.

Step 3 : Fruits layer
Cut fruits of your choice into small pieces and keep it ready.
Here I have used fruit cocktail which are readily available at shops. Drain sugar syrup from fruits and keep it in refrigerator.

Step 4 : Jelly layer
Prepare jelly as per instructions on the pack and keep it in refrigerator for setting.

Step 5: Arranging Trifle Pudding
Trifle pudding can be arranged in a wide glass bowl or a glass for individual serving.
  • Arrange the cake at the bottom of the bowl and glass as shown in the pic and spray sugar syrup on cake layer. Don’t spray too much of sugar syrup, otherwise cake layer becomes soggy
  • Now pour custard on top of it and spread it evenly.
  • Then spread the chopped fruits and cover with little custard.
  • Next cut jelly into cubes and spread jelly on top of fruits custard layer.
  • Repeat the layering from cake layer to jelly layer. I have repeated the layering twice only for glass. At the end top with whipped cream and cherries.
Refrigerate the dessert for 5 to 6 hrs. Serve this delicious, cold and yummy dessert.
