Mutton Chops

A simple, classic and easy Mutton Chops learnt from my Aunt. This is one of the easiest mutton recipe.

Ingredients:

Mutton                – 300 gm
Onion                  – 1 medium size
Turmeric            – ¼ tsp
Oil                        – 1 to 2 tbsp

For grinding :
Oil                         - 1 tbsp
Clove                    – 6
Cinnamon           – 1 inch
Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds        – 1 tbsp
Black pepper        – 1 tsp
Ginger                    – 1 inch
Garlic                      – 6 to 8 cloves
Green chillies        – 4 to 6
Coriander               – ¼ cup
Mint leaves            – ¼ cup
Coconut                  – 1 tbsp
Poppy seeds           – 1 tbsp

Method:

Step 1 : In a kadai, Add 1 tbsp of oil. Add cinnamon, clove, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and black pepper and fry for a minute or two. Now add ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander and mint and fry till raw smell goes. Add coconut and poppy seeds and fry for 30 secs and switch off the stove. Allow it to cool down completely before grinding into fine paste.

Step 2 : Heat 1 to 2 tbsp of oil in a pressure cooker. Add chopped onion and saute till raw smell goes. Add turmeric and mutton and fry on high frame for couple of mins. Add grinded paste and add salt. Mix well and fry for 2 to 3 mins on medium flame.

Step 3 : Add little amount of water or as per your requirement and pressure cook for two to three whistle. Once pressure releases completely from cooker, then open the lid and squeeze ¼ lemon juice into and give a mix. Garnish with coriander leaves. It can be served along with chapathi.
