Onion pakoda/Eerulli pakoda is very easy to prepare and can be prepared and served as a snack when guest arrives without prior notice. I prefer to eat during rainy season. Onion and besan are the main ingredients for onion pakoda. Onion pakoda can be prepared crispy and even soft. This is crispy version of onion pakoda.

Ingredients:

Finely chopped Green chilli  - 2
Curry leaves                 - 3 tbsp
Coriander leaves             - 3 tbsp
Red chili powder             - 1 tsp
Gram flour                   - 1 Cup
Rice flour                   - 2 to 3 tbsp
carom seeds                  - 1/4 tsp (for digestion)
Salt as per your taste
Oil required for frying

Method:

Step 1 : In a bowl, add thinly sliced onions, green chilies, curry leaves, coriander leaves, red chili powder and salt. Mix well.

Step 2 : Add Besan and Rice flour into the onion mixture and mix well. Add hot oil into it and sprinkle 1 to 2 tbsp water into it and mix well again. If water is added more then pakoda will be soft instead of crispy.

Step 3 : Heat oil in a deep frying pan. When the oil is hot, add small amount of pakoda mix into oil as shown in pic. Deep fry till it is golden brown.

Serve with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
